Chapter: Bird and Falcon Droppings

  • I asked Ishaq about the droppings of birds, falcons, hawks, and peregrines? He said: "There is no harm in it." He added: "And he should rub it off." I said: "What about the droppings of crows and vultures, and they land on carcasses?" He granted a concession regarding it and said: "The droppings of all birds have no harm in them."

45 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, saying: Mu'adh narrated to us, saying: Ash'ath narrated, from al-Hasan, who said: We were in the congregational mosque, and an owl defecated on a man, so he asked about it, and he (al-Hasan) did not consider it anything.

Chapter: A Man Placing His Foot on an Impure Place While Barefoot

  • I said to Ahmad: A man performs ablution, then does not put on sandals, and he passes by a place that has been struck by urine, but he is barefoot and his feet are wet, and then he passes after that over a clean place? He disliked that and said: "He should not step on the urine."

46 - 'Amr ibn Marzuq narrated to us, saying: Za'idah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Yahya ibn Waththab, who said: I said to Ibn 'Abbas: Shall I perform ablution, then go out to the mosque while I am barefoot? He said: "Yes."

47 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, saying: 'Umar narrated to us, saying: Al-Awza'i was asked about a man who steps in a place where he knows there is urine, and his foot is wet? He said: "He should wash what has touched his foot."

Chapter: An Impure Place Struck by Rain

  • I heard Ahmad ibn Hanbal say: "If urine settles in a place on the ground, then it is struck by rain, it has become pure." It was said: "And what about human excrement?" He said: "Verily, the essence of human excrement may remain in its place."
