• And I heard Ishaq say: 'No one should perform the iqamah except the one who performed the adhan.'
• And Ishaq said on another occasion: 'It used to be said: "Whoever performs the adhan should perform the iqamah."'
498 - Muhammad ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Rashid narrated to us, saying: 'Ata' narrated to us, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: While the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was on a journey, he sought Bilal to perform the adhan, but he was not found. So a man performed the adhan, then Bilal arrived and wanted to perform the adhan. It was said to him: 'A man has already performed the adhan.' He remained silent for a short while, then he wanted to perform the iqamah, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: 'Wait, O Bilal, for only the one who performs the adhan should perform the iqamah.'
499 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Ibn Lahi'ah informed me, from Bakr ibn Sawadah, from Nu'aym, from Ziyad ibn al-Harith al-Suda'i, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Only the one who performs the adhan should perform the iqamah.'
500 - al-Himmani narrated to us, saying: Hafs and 'Abd al-Salam narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq al-Shaybani, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', who said: I saw Abu Mahdhurah; someone else had performed the adhan, so Abu Mahdhurah came and performed the iqamah.
(1) Thus it is in the original, and the correct reading is perhaps: "Ziyad ibn Nu'aym."
