Chapter: The mu'adhdhin moves his feet from their position and places his fingers in his ears.
524 - Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Abu Haywah al-Himsi narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Sinan narrated to us, from Abu al-Zahiriyah, from Abu Shajarah Kathir ibn Murrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The first one to call the adhan in the heavens was Jibril." Umar ibn al-Khattab heard him and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) of what he had heard, so he said: "Rise, O Bilal, and call the adhan." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded him to place his fingers in his ears, seeking assistance thereby for his voice.
Chapter: Waiting for the Imam when the mu'adhdhin has performed the iqamah.
525 - Ishaq said: Ismail ibn Ibrahim has informed us, from Abd al-Aziz ibn Suhayb, from Anas, who said: The prayer was called (iqamah), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was in a private conversation with a man, and he did not rise for the prayer until some of the people became drowsy.
526 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, he said: Marwan ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: Mu'awiyah ibn Salam narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated to us, from Abd Allah ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When the prayer is called (iqamah), do not stand until you see me; maintain tranquility."
