• Ishaq said: "This hadith has been narrated by Ibn Jurayj, Sharik, 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Amr al-Raqqi, Jarir ibn Hazim, and al-Nu'man ibn Rashid; all of them from 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Aqil, with this chain of narration. There is no one among all those who narrated it who is more reliable in my view regarding this hadith than Zuhayr ibn Muhammad."

• قال إسحاق: «قد رَوَى هذا الحديثَ: ابن جُرَيج، وشَريك، وعُبَيدالله بن عَمرو الرَّقِّي، وجَرير بن حازم، والنُّعمان بن راشد؛ كُلُّهم عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل؛ بهذا الإسناد، وليس في جَميع مَن رَواه أَثبت عِندي في هذا الحديث عن (١) زهير بن محمد».
