Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 224

Translation · EN

Some scholars said: 'Seven is the set time for all women if they experience irregular bleeding; because in the speech of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, where he ordered Hamnah with what he ordered her, he said to her: "As women menstruate and as they become pure." Thus, seven is the time for the woman experiencing irregular bleeding if she does not know her [customary] cycles; she should not exceed seven.'

559 - Amr ibn Uthman narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: It was said to al-Awza'i: A young girl had her first menstruation for three days, then she saw clear purity? He said: 'She performs ghusl and prays.' It was said: What if she returned after that purity and prayer and saw fresh blood? He said: 'She should refrain [from prayer] until the time of the women of her family.' It was said to him: What if she does not know the time of the women of her family? He said: 'Then let her refrain for seven days.'

560 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Adam informed us, from al-Mufaddal ibn Muhalhal, from Sufyan, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ata, who said: 'Menstruation is fifteen [days].'

561 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Waki' informed us, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Ali ibn Thabit, from Muhammad ibn Zayd, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, who said: 'Menstruation is thirteen [days].'

562 - I heard Abu Abdullah Ahmad ibn Hanbal say: Abdullah ibn Numayr narrated to us, saying: Ubaydullah narrated to us, from Nafi', from Sulayman ibn Yasar, from Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that she asked 280 the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, regarding a woman who was shedding blood? He said: 'She should wait for the number of nights and days she used to menstruate and their [customary] amount within the month; she should leave off prayer, bind herself [with a pad], and then pray.'
