Chapter: The one who prays with a sword stained with blood
• I said to Ishaq: A man prayed while he had a sword stained with blood? He said: "If he is in a place of combat where he is unable to wash it or wipe it with earth, it is a situation of necessity, and I hope that it suffices for him. However, if he is in safety and tranquility, and laziness prevented him from washing it or wiping it, so he was negligent in that and prayed intentionally while it was stained with blood, then repeating the prayer is more beloved to me."
59 - Al-Musayyab ibn Wadih narrated to us, saying: Abu Ishaq al-Fazari narrated to us, saying: I said to al-Awza'i: A man struck with his sword and it became stained with blood, so he wiped it with earth; may he pray with it? He said: "When he wipes it with earth until he cleans it, that suffices him, and he may pray with it."
60 - Al-Musayyab narrated to us, saying: Abu Ishaq narrated to us, saying: I asked Sufyan about that, and I said: He wiped it with earth until he cleaned it, and he disliked washing it for fear of damaging it? He said: "I dislike that he prays with it until he washes it." Then he said: "Do you see if blood had touched his body, and he wiped it, would it suffice him?"
61 - Abu Ishaq said: I asked someone else, and he said: "If he wipes it with earth until he cleans it, that suffices him, and he does not need to wash it." I said: If blood touched his garment or his body, and he wiped it or scraped it until it disappeared, would it suffice him? He said: "It will not go away, and it does not suffice him until he washes it; however, I see that if he scraped it, it would suffice him."

باب: من صَلَّى بسيفٍ ملطَّخٍ بالدم
• قلت لإسحاق: رَجلٌ صَلَّى ومَعَه سَيفٌ مُخَضَّبٌ بِالدم؟ قال: «إن كان في مَوضِعِ قِتالٍ لا يَقدِر على غَسلِه أو مَسحِه بِالتُّراب؛ فهو مَوضِع ضَرورَة، أرجو أن يُجزئه، وإن كان في أمنٍ وطُمأنينَة، فمَنَعَه الكَسَل من غَسلِه أو مَسحِه، فتَهاون في ذلك، فصَلَّى عَمدًا وهو مُخَضَّبٌ بِالدم؛ فالإعادَة أحبُّ إليَّ».
٥٩ - حدثنا المسيَّب بن واضِح، قال: ثنا أبو إسحاق الفَزاري، قال: قلت للأوزاعي: رَجلٌ ضَرَب بِسَيفه، فتَلَطَّخ دَمًا، فمَسَحَه بِالتُّراب؛ أيُصَلي فيه؟ قال: «إذا مَسَحَه بِالتُّراب حتى يُنقِيَه؛ أجزأه ذلك، وصَلَّى فيه».
٦٠ - حدثنا المسيَّب، قال: ثنا أبو إسحاق، قال: وسألت سُفيان عن ذلك، وقلت: مَسَحَه بالتُّراب حتى أنقاه، وكَرِهَ أن يَغسِله فيُفسِده؟ قال: «أكرَهُ أن يُصَلِّي فيه حتى يَغسِله»، ثم قال: «أرأيتَ لَو أصاب جَسدُهُ دمًا (١)، فمَسَحَه؛ أكان يُجزئه؟».
٦١ - قال أبو إسحاق: وسألتُ غيرَه، فقال: «إذا مَسَحَه بِالتُّراب حتى يُنقِيَه؛ أجزأه ذلك، ولا يَغسِله». قلت: فلَو أصاب ثَوبَه أو جَسَدَه دَمٌ، فمَسَحَه أو حَتَّه حتى ذَهَب؛ أكان يُجزئه؟ قال: «لا يَذهَب، ولا يُجزئه حتى يَغسِله، ولكن أرى لَو حَتَّه أجزأه».
