Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 256

Translation · EN

• I asked Ishaq again, I said: A woman had a known time in which she would menstruate, but she saw blood before her time? He said: "Whenever she sees the blood of menstruation, she abandons prayer. But if it is yellow or turbid discharge, then no; it is istihada (irregular bleeding)."

• I asked Ishaq again, I said: A woman used to menstruate every twenty-two days, but she menstruated in sixteen days, and between it and her menstruation was six days? He said: "If the blood she saw before the time is like the blood of menstruation, she abandons prayer for the duration of the days of her menstruation, even if she saw it before her time. If it is yellow or turbid discharge, she performs wudu and prays until her days of menstruation arrive, because it is in the status of istihada."

I reviewed this with him more than once, and this was his statement.

621 - Ahmad ibn al-Azhar and Ahmad ibn Nasr narrated to us, they said: Al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, he said: I heard Sufyan—and it was said to him: Do you consider yellow discharge to be menstruation?—he said: "Yes." I said: What if the yellow discharge is outside the days of her menstruation? He said: "No, she prays."

622 - Ahmad ibn Nasr said: And 'Ubaydullah ibn Musa narrated to us, from Sufyan, he said: "If she sees blood for a day or two outside the days of her menstruation, and it ceases for her, then she should perform wudu and pray the prayer of her day or the two days in which she menstruated."

623 - 'Imran ibn Yazid narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn 'Abdullah narrated to us, he said: Al-Awza'i was asked about a woman who sees yellow discharge between her two menstrual periods during the days of her purity? He said: "She performs wudu and prays." It was said: What if she sees blood continuously? He said: "She performs wudu and prays."

Notes

(1) Thus in the original; the correct form is "wa-li-tusalli" (and she should pray).
