Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 25Chapter: Saliva Flowing While Sleeping, and Blood Moistened with Spittle

Translation · EN

62 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Salamah ibn Wardan informed me, saying: I asked Salim ibn 'Abd Allah, I said: May I pray while I have upon me a quiver containing an arrow with blood on its blade? He said: "No."

Chapter: The saliva of a man flowing while he is sleeping, and blood that he moistens with saliva

• I said to Ishaq: A man sleeps, and his saliva flows? He said: "There is no harm in it if it gets onto the garment." I said: What if its taste has changed, and he knows it came from the stomach? He said: "If it gets onto the garment, he should wash it."

• And Ishaq was asked - another time - about a man who sleeps, and a large amount of water comes out from his mouth and gets onto his garment; may he pray in it? He said: "There is no harm."

• I said to Ishaq: A man gets a drop of blood on his garment, and he moistens it with his saliva and rubs it until its trace disappears? He said: "It does not please me unless he washes it with water." I said: Even if its trace disappeared with the saliva? He said: "Yes."

63 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, saying: Abu Dawud narrated to us, saying: Khalid ibn Abi 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: Salit ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to me, saying: I saw Ibn 'Umar see a spot of blood on his garment, so he moistened it with his saliva, then he rubbed it.
