  • Others disagreed with them, saying: "If she becomes pure during the time of a prayer, but does not have [sufficient] time—to the extent that she can attain the purification she was commanded to perform—then she is not obligated to make up these prayers in whose time she became pure."

o The school of thought of Ishaq: If she becomes pure before the setting of the sun, she performs the Dhuhr and the 'Asr [prayers] when she becomes pure.

645 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, from al-Awza'i and Sufyan al-Thawri: "Whatever [part] of its time has passed of the prayers, then she subsequently sees purity; she is commanded to perform it with the Dhuhr [prayer] at the time of 'Asr. If she does so, she has done well, otherwise there is nothing upon her."

646 - Abu 'Amr Shabab narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi narrated to us, saying: I heard Yahya ibn Sa'id say: "If she becomes pure at night, she performs the Maghrib and the 'Isha' [prayers] as long as the dawn has not yet risen."

647 - Nasr ibn 'Ali al-Jahdami narrated to us, saying: Safwan ibn 'Isa narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: I heard my grandfather 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa'id ibn Yarbu' al-Makhzumi narrating from a mawla (freedman) of 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, that he heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf say: "If a woman sees purity before the sun sets, she performs the Dhuhr and the 'Asr [prayers], and if she sees purity before the dawn rises, she performs the Maghrib and the 'Isha' [prayers]."
