665 - Hannad narrated to us, he said: Hatim ibn Isma'il narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Harmala, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab - regarding the woman who suffers from istihada, and whose menstruation extends: That she should perform ghusl and cleanse herself, then place a pad of cotton as one who has a nosebleed places it in his nose, then bind herself with a cloth, then pray.
666 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, from al-Awza'i, from Rabi'a and Yahya ibn Sa'id, that they narrated to him - regarding a woman who has known, established cycles, and sees blood on the first day of her cycle - that she should refrain from prayer.
It was said to al-Awza'i: If she sees yellowish or brownish discharge on the first day of her cycle before seeing blood? He said: "She should perform wudu and pray until she sees fresh blood. When she sees it, she should refrain from prayer until she reaches the end of her menstrual days."
Chapter: Does the woman suffering from istihada who performs wudu for each prayer perform nafilah (supererogatory) prayers with that same wudu?
• I heard Ahmad say - regarding a man who has an ailment requiring him to perform wudu for every prayer, and the woman with istihada when she performs wudu for the obligatory prayer -: "She may perform voluntary prayers and missed prayers with that same wudu until the time for the next prayer enters."
• I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal also, I said: The woman with istihada, when she performs wudu, may she pray until the next prayer with that same wudu? He said: "Yes, she may perform supererogatory prayers with that wudu until the time for the next prayer enters."
• I asked Ishaq, I said: The woman with istihada, when she performs wudu for every prayer, may she pray between the two prayers with that same wudu? He said: "She may pray with that wudu until the next prayer as much as she wishes; voluntary prayers, funeral prayers, and missed prayers."
