Chapter: At What Age Does the Blood Cease for a Woman?
• I asked Ahmad, I said: "At what age does the blood cease for a woman when she reaches that age?" He said: "It is said: A woman ceases to conceive at sixty, and when childbearing ceases, the blood ceases."
731 - Bishr ibn Mu'adh narrated to us, saying: Abu Qutaybah informed us, from Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq, from al-'Aizar ibn Hurayth, from Umm Razin, from 'Aishah, who said: "No woman has ever reached fifty years of age and had a child come forth from her womb."
Chapter: A Woman Experiences Labor Pains for Days, Sees Blood, but the Child Is Not Delivered
• I asked Ishaq, I said: "A woman has continuous labor pains for days, sees blood, but the child is not delivered for days; should she abandon prayer during these days?" He said: "She should abandon prayer for the duration of the days she used to menstruate."
• And I asked Ishaq, I said: "When is a woman certain of pregnancy such that if she sees blood, she leaves off prayer?" Ishaq said: "The pregnant woman, in our view, menstruates."
732 - Shabab al-'Asfari narrated to us, saying: 'Abd al-A'la informed us, from Yunus, from al-Hasan, who said: "If she experiences labor pains and sees blood, she refrains from prayer," and al-Hasan used to count it as post-natal bleeding (nifas).
Chapter: A Woman Becomes Pure During the Day in the Month of Ramadan, Does She Make Up the Fast?
• And I asked Ishaq, I said: "A woman becomes pure in the month of Ramadan after midday, should she repeat [fasting] this day?" He said: "Whenever she becomes pure after the break of dawn, she must make up that day, because she entered the day while she was menstruating; therefore, she is required to make up that day."
