• And I asked 'Ali ibn 'Abd Allah, saying: "Is the Takbir first, or the raising of the hands?" He said: "They are both together at the same time; when you say the Takbir, you raise your hands."
740 - Abu 'Abd Allah Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Shu'bah, who said: 'Amr ibn Murrah informed me, from Abu al-Bakhtari, from 'Abd al-Rahman al-Yahsabi, from Wa'il al-Hadrami, that he prayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he used to raise his hands with the Takbir.
741 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Amr said: Ishaq ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Talhah informed me, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to raise them with the Takbir.
742 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Jarir informed us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn 'Ata', from Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stand for prayer but that he would raise his hands toward the sky before he said the Takbir, then he would say the Takbir."
743 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj informed me, [370] saying: I asked Nafi', and I said: "Did Ibn 'Umar use to raise his head and face when he said the Takbir for prayer..."
