'Amr said: My father narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Muhajir narrated to us, from Thabit, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, that he said: "In the first two rak'ahs of the Dhuhr and 'Asr: [recite] the Opening of the Book (Fatihat al-Kitab) and a surah. In the latter two: the Opening of the Book. In what the Imam recites aloud, one should listen in silence."
804 - 'Amr narrated to us, saying: al-Walid narrated to us, from 'Uthman ibn al-Aswad, from Mujahid, who said: "Recite with the Imam in the Dhuhr and 'Asr prayers the Opening of the Book and a surah [in each] in the first two rak'ahs, and in the latter two the Opening of the Book. In the Maghrib, 'Isha', and Fajr [prayers], [recite] the Opening of the Book in every rak'ah."
805 - Abu Hisham Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated to us, saying: Hassan ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Yunus ibn Yazid, from al-Zuhri, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) established the sunnah to recite aloud in the Fajr prayer in both rak'ahs, and to recite in the first two rak'ahs of the Dhuhr prayer the Mother of the Qur'an (Umm al-Qur'an) and a surah in every rak'ah, silently to himself, and to recite in the latter two rak'ahs the Mother of the Qur'an in every rak'ah, silently. He does in the 'Asr [prayer] the same as he does in the Dhuhr, and those behind the Imam do the same as the Imam does in all of that.
The Imam recites aloud in the first two rak'ahs of the Maghrib; he recites in each one of them the Mother of the Qur'an and a surah, and he recites in the third rak'ah the Mother of the Qur'an, silently to himself.
He recites aloud in the first two rak'ahs of the 'Isha' prayer the Mother of the Qur'an in each rak'ah, and a surah, and he recites in the latter two rak'ahs of the 'Isha' prayer the Mother of the Qur'an, silently to himself."
