Chapter: Nosebleed (Ru'af)

• I asked Ahmad, saying: A man has a severe nosebleed that will not stop? He said: "He performs wudu and prays," and he used the hadith of 'Umar as evidence. He said: "The same applies to a wound that a person might have."

• I asked Ishaq, saying: A man has a nosebleed that will not stop; should he not perform wudu for every prayer once? He said: "Yes."

88 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Amr said—regarding the one who has a nosebleed that does not stop, and the time for prayer arrives—: "He should plug his nose and perform wudu."

89 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Jarir narrated to us, from Mughirah, from Ibrahim—regarding a man who has a nosebleed that he cannot control—he said: "He should stuff it, perform wudu, hasten, and pray."

90 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: Bishr ibn 'Umar narrated to us, saying: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, saying: I heard 'Ata'—regarding one who has a nosebleed when the morning prayer has been called, and it does not stop; what should he do?—he said: "He should plug it with a piece of wool or a rag, then perform wudu and pray."
