816 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: And Isma'il informed me, from 'Amr ibn Muhajir, that 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz used to recite in the Isha' prayer: from Surat al-Mursalat up to {I swear by this city} [Surat al-Balad], and: {Recite in the name of your Lord who created} [Surat al-'Alaq].
817 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid narrated to us, saying: And Isma'il informed me, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith al-Tamimi, from Abu al-Qasim [the Prophet], that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to recite in the Isha' prayer on the night of Friday: {Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion} [Surat al-Mulk] up to: {I swear by the Day of Resurrection} [Surat al-Qiyamah]. He said: "And he would recite in the morning prayer on Friday: {Alif-Lam-Mim. The revelation...} [Surat al-Sajdah], and: {Has there [not] come upon man a period of time...} [Surat al-Insan]."
818 - Abu Hafs narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Yusuf narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Rabi', who said: "Al-Hasan used to recite in the Fajr (dawn) prayer in the first rak'ah from the long surahs of the Mufassal, and in the second [rak'ah]: from {Blessed is He} [Surat al-Mulk] up to 'Abasa."
