842 - 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi', from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him: "...in the last two [rak'ahs] with the Fatihah of the Book"; contrary to what was mentioned by the weak source we described.
Since there is no [authentic] report from any of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them, [supporting] the tasbih in the last two [rak'ahs], and it has been authentically reported from a number of the companions of 'Ali, from 'Ali, regarding the [recitation of the] Fatihah of the Book in the last two [rak'ahs], alongside what has preceded of the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him; it is not permissible to abandon that.
Even if there were no mention from any of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them, regarding the recitation of the Fatihah of the Book in the last two [rak'ahs], what has been mentioned from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would be sufficient. How [much more so when there is] the consensus of the Companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them, the Successors, and the majority of the scholars upon that, along with the superiority of the Fatihah of the Book over the tasbih. So whoever does not hold this view has surely erred and made a mistake.
• I heard 'Abd Allah ibn Siwar al-'Anbari engaging in tasbih in the last two [rak'ahs].
843 - Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, saying: Sharik narrated to us, from 'Asim, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah and 'A'ishah, who both said: "Recite the Fatihah of the Book in the first two [rak'ahs], and the Fatihah of the Book in the last two."
