882 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Isma'il informed me that Sa'id ibn al-Harith used to narrate that he heard 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar teaching a Bedouin how to pray. He said: "When you perform wudu' (ablution), face the Qiblah, say takbir, and recite some Qur'an. If you do not have any Qur'an [memorized] with you, then say takbir, tahlil (saying La ilaha illa Allah), tasbih, and tahmid, then bow."
883 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Waki' ibn al-Jarrah narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Khalid al-Dalani, from Ibrahim al-Saksaki, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Awfa, that a man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am unable to learn anything of the Qur'an, so teach me what will suffice me from it." He said: "Say: Subhan Allah, wa al-hamdulillah, wa la ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu Akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (Glory be to Allah, and praise be to Allah, and there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power nor strength except by Allah)." The man said: "This is for Allah, so what is for me?" He said: "Say: Allahummaghfir li, warhamni, wa 'afini, wahdini, warzuqni (O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me well-being, guide me, and provide for me)."
• Ishaq said: "We only intended by this hadith that if an illiterate person cannot recite the Qur'an, he should say these phrases in his prayer."
• I said to Ishaq: A Jew or a Christian who has converted to Islam, and he prayed, and recited from the Torah or the Gospel in his prayer; is his prayer valid? He said: "His prayer is not valid."
884 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Sa'id narrated to me, from Qatadah, that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "If a man's servant converts to Islam, he must learn the Fatihat al-Kitab and six surahs of the Qur'an: two surahs for Maghrib, two surahs for 'Isha', and two surahs for the morning prayer."

٨٨٢ - حدثنا محمد بن الوَزير، قال: ثنا الوَليد بن مُسلِم، قال: أخبرني إسماعيل، أن سَعيد بن الحارِث كان يحدِّث أنه سَمِع عبد الله بن عُمَر يُعَلِّم أعرابيًّا الصَّلاة، فقال: «إذا تَوضَّأت؛ فاستَقبِل القِبلَة، فكَبِّر، واقرأ قُرآنًا، فإن لم يَكُن مَعَك قُرآن؛ فكَبِّر، وهَلِّل، وسَبِّح، واحمَد (١)، ثم اركَع».
٨٨٣ - حدثنا إسحاق، قال: ثنا وَكيع بن الجراح، عن سُفيان، عن أبي خالِد الدالاني، عن إبراهيم السكسَكي، عن عبد الله بن أبي أوفى، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أتاه رَجل، فقال: يا رسول الله، إني لا أستَطيع أن أتَعَلَّم من القرآن شَيئًا، فعَلِّمني ما يُجزئني منه. فقال: «قل: سُبحان الله، والحمد لله، ولا إله إلا الله، والله أكبَر، ولا حَولَ ولا قُوَّةَ إلا بالله». قال: هذا لله، فما لي؟ قال: «قل: اللهم اغفِر لي، وارحَمني، وعافِني، واهدِني، وارزُقني».
• قال إسحاق: «وإنما أرَدنا من هذا الحديث: أن الأُمِّي إذا لم يُحسِن أن يَقرأ القرآن؛ قالَهُ في صَلاته».
• قلت لإسحاق: يَهوديٌّ أو نَصرانيٌّ أسلَم، وصَلَّى، فقَرأ في صَلاته من التَّوراة أو الإنجيل؛ هل تَجوز صَلاته؟ قال: «لا تَجوز صَلاته».
٨٨٤ - حدثنا محمد بن الوَزير، قال: ثنا الوَليد بن مُسلِم، قال: حدثني سَعيد، عن قَتادَة، أن عُمَر بن الخطاب -رضي الله عنه- قال: «إذا أسلَم غُلام الرجل؛ فلا بُدَّ أن يَتَعَلَّم فاتحة الكِتاب، وسِتَّ سُوَرٍ من القرآن؛ سورَتان للمَغرِب، وسورَتان للعِشاء، وسورَتان للغَداة».
