914 - Al-Walid said: Then I mentioned it to 'Abd Allah ibn al-'Ala', and he informed me that he saw 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, Makhul, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Zakariyya, and Abu Makhramah relying on their hands.
915 - Al-Walid said: Isma'il informed me, from Bishr ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yasar, that 'Ubadah ibn Nusay, when he raised his head, would rely on his hands, then rise before sitting upright. He said: Raja' ibn Haywah said to him, 'If only you would sit for a while.' He replied, 'Abu Rayhanah, a companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to do that.' Raja' ibn Haywah then said, 'Indeed (1).'
916 - Al-Walid said: Then I asked 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar ibn Hafs about that, and he narrated to me from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that he used to rely on his hands in his prayer when rising from his prostration and his tashahhud.
917 - Al-Walid said: Ibn Lahi'ah said: Bukayr informed me, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that when he rose from the last prostration of the first rak'ah, and from the second of the four, he would rely on his hands before sitting upright.
918 - Al-Walid said: 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah said: 'If one of you stands up, let him place his hand on the ground until he stands; it is an act of humility before Allah.'
919 - Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: 'Isa ibn Yunus informed us, from al-Awza'i, from al-Zuhri, who said: 'The Sunnah of prayer is to rely on the hands when standing.'
