Chapter: Prostration on the Forehead Without the Nose

I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal, saying: "What about a man who prostrates but does not place his nose on the ground?" He said: "It does not suffice him." I said: "Should he repeat the prayer?" He said: "I do not know."

I heard Ishaq say: "Prostrate on your nose and your forehead."

935 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: I asked Abu 'Amr al-Awza'i and Malik ibn Anas about prostrating on the nose? They both said: "Yes, prostrate on seven [members]: the two palms, the two knees, the two feet, and his forehead (1)." Then they pointed with their hands to the tip of the nose and said: "It is part of the forehead," or they said: "It is part of the face."

936 - Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated to us, saying: Hassan narrated to us, from Sufyan, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, who said: Tawus used to say: "The forehead and the nose are one."

937 - Muhammad narrated to us, Hassan narrated to us (2), from 'Ikrimah, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "A prayer in which the nose does not touch the ground just as the forehead does is not accepted."
