952 - Baqiyyah said: 'I asked al-Awza'i about that, and he said: "This is a concession (rukhsah) for whoever wishes to supplicate for their parents."
I heard Ishaq—another time—say: "When bowing, one says: 'O Allah, to You I have bowed, in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted; my hearing, my sight, my brain, and my bones have humbled themselves before You.' And when one prostrates, he says: 'O Allah, to You I have prostrated, in You I have believed; my face has prostrated to the One Who created it and split open its hearing and its sight; so blessed is Allah, the Best of creators.'"
953 - Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr narrated to us, saying: Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, from Qatadah, from Mutarrif, from 'A'ishah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say—in bowing and prostration: "Exalted, Holy, Lord of the angels and the Spirit."
Chapter: Regarding One Who Closes His Eyes During Prayer
I heard Ishaq say: "Do not close your eyes while you are praying, for it is disliked (makruh), because the Jews do that."
(1) Perhaps the word "said" (qala) is missing here.
