Chapter: If he recites a [verse of] prostration, he should bow
• Ishaq was asked about a man who recites a [verse of] prostration from the middle of a surah; should he bow for it? He said: "Yes, and if he wishes, he may not prostrate, because the prostration is not mandatory (wajib)."
976 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Mu'tamir informed us, from Ma'mar, from Ibn Tawus, from his father, that he recited in the final Isha prayer: {Tanzil} (As-Sajdah); and when he reached the [verse of] prostration, he bowed for it.

• I heard Ishaq say: "If he recites a [verse of] prostration, he should rise from his place standing, then prostrate."
• And I heard Ishaq say: "If a man wishes to prostrate, he should say the takbir while standing, then prostrate. And if he was reciting while sitting, he should stand until he says the takbir while upright, then prostrate; that is what 'Aishah used to do."
977 - Abu Usamah, al-Nadr ibn Shumayl, and Wahb ibn Jarir informed me of that, from Shu'bah, from Shumaysah, from 'Aishah, that she used to recite from the Mushaf, and when she reached a [verse of] prostration, she would stand and then prostrate.
• Ishaq said: "And if the reciter reads a [verse of] prostration, he should say the takbir while standing, then prostrate."
Chapter: A woman recites a [verse of] prostration, and a man hears her; and a boy recites it
• I heard Ishaq say: "If a woman recites a [verse of] prostration and a man hears her, he should not prostrate due to her prostration, but rather he should recite it himself, then prostrate."
