Chapter: The Explanation of: "When the Prophet (peace be upon him) prostrated, he would jakh-kha."
984 - I heard Ishaq say: al-Nadr ibn Shumayl informed us, from Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq, from al-Bara', that the Prophet (peace be upon him), when he prostrated, would jakh-kha.
985 - I heard Ahmad ibn Sa'id say: al-Nadr ibn Shumayl said: "It ought to be 'jakh-kha', but this is how Yunus said it."
o Its explanation: It is to raise one's buttocks. It is said: 'A cup that is mujakhi (inverted/overturned): similar to that which is upside down.'
986 - Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, he said: Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said: I saw al-Bara' when he prostrated, he would khawwa (spread his arms/leave space) and raise his buttocks, then he said: "I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) doing it like this."
987 - Yahya narrated to us, he said: Sharik narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Tamimi, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "I saw your Prophet (peace be upon him) when he prostrated, he would khawwa (spread his arms/leave space) until I saw the whiteness of his armpits."
(1) Thus it is in the original, and perhaps the correct phrasing is: "Yunus, from Abu Ishaq", or something was omitted after it: "from Abu Ishaq".
