995 - Ahmad narrated to us, he said: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: Khalid al-Hadhdha' narrated to us, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Muhallab, from 'Imran ibn Husayn, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) performed the taslim after three rak'ahs of 'Asr, then he stood up and entered [his house]. A man called 'al-Khirbaq'—who had long arms—stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah." So he went out to him, and he mentioned to him what he had done. He (the Prophet) said: "Is this true?" They said: "Yes." So he prayed the rak'ah that he had missed, then performed the taslim, then performed two prostrations, then performed the taslim.
996 - Ahmad narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Bakr narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj informed us, he said: Ibn Shihab informed me that 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-A'raj informed him that 'Abd Allah ibn Buhaynah al-Asadi—an ally of Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib and one of the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him)—informed him that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs with them, then stood up and did not sit for the [first] tashahhud. The people stood up with him, and when he had prayed the remaining two rak'ahs and the people were waiting for him to perform the taslim, he said the takbir and prostrated, then said the takbir and prostrated, then performed the taslim.
997 - Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muhammad informed us, he said: Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to me, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Ibn 'Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "If one of you prays and does not know whether he prayed three or four [rak'ahs], let him pray a [further] rak'ah and prostrate two prostrations, then prostrate two prostrations before he performs the taslim. For if it was the fifth, he balances it with the two prostrations, and if it was the fourth, the two prostrations are a humiliation for the devil."
٩٩٥ - حدثنا أحمَد، قال: ثنا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم، قال: ثنا خالِد الحذاء، عن أبي قلابة، عن أبي المهلب، عن عِمران بن حصين، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم سَلَّم في ثَلاث رَكعاتٍ من العَصر، ثم قام فَدَخَل، فقام إليه رَجلٌ يُقال له: «الخِرباق»، وكان في يَدَيه طول، فقال: يا رسول الله. فخَرَج إلَيه، فذَكَرَ لَه صَنيعَه، فقال: «أَصَدَق هذا؟». قالوا: نعم. فصَلَّى الركعَة التي تَرَك، ثم سَلَّم، ثم سَجَدَ سَجدَتَين، ثم سَلَّم.
٩٩٦ - حدثنا أحمَد، قال: ثنا محمد بن بكر، قال: أبنا ابن جُرَيج، قال: أخبرني ابن شِهاب، أن عبد الرحمن بن هرمز الأعرج أخبره أن عبد الله بن بحينة الأسدي حليف بني عبد المطَّلِب -وكان من أصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم-؛ أنه أخبره أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صَلَّى بهم رَكعَتَين، ثم قام ولم يَقعُد فيها، فقام الناس مَعَه، فلَمَّا صَلَّى الركعَتَين الأخرَيَين، وانتظر الناس تَسليمَهُ؛ كَبَّر فسَجَد، ثم كَبَّر فسَجَد، ثم سَلَّم.
٩٩٧ - حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم، قال: أبنا عبد العَزيز بن محمد، قال: حدثني زيد ⦗٤٦٥⦘ ابن أسلم، عن عَطاء بن يَسَار، عن ابن عَبَّاس، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «إذا صَلَّى أحَدُكم فلا يَدري ثَلاثًا صَلَّى أم أربَعًا؛ فَليُصَلِّ رَكعَةً، وليَسجُد سَجدَتَين، ثم يَسجُد سَجدَتَين قَبلَ أن يُسَلِّم، فإن كانَت خامِسَةً؛ شَفَعَها بِسَجدَتَين، وإن كانَت رابِعَةً؛ فالسَّجدَتان تَرغيمٌ للشَّيطان».
