Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 434Chapter: Someone Who Mentions Allah During Prayer Due to an Incident, and Similar Matters

Translation · EN

1046 - I said to Abu 'Amr: Should he answer her during the obligatory (maktuba) prayer? He said: "Yes, for is there any other way?" Then Abu 'Amr said: "He should inform her in the obligatory prayer with a tasbiha (saying Subhan Allah), and in the supererogatory (tatawwu') prayer he should inform her with a talbiya (saying Labbayk)."

Chapter: One Who Mentions Allah During Prayer Due to a Matter That Occurs to Him, and Other Than That

• I asked Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, I said: A man was stung by a scorpion while in prayer, so he said: "Bismillah"? He said: "If he was forgetful, there is nothing upon him." I said: What if he did it intentionally? He preferred that he repeat it, but he did not clarify it to me.

• Ishaq was also asked about an Imam who recited a verse containing: {There is no god but Allah}, and some of those behind him said: "There is no god but Allah"? He said: "His prayer is not invalidated."

• I asked Ishaq once, I said: A man was in prayer when a star fell, so he said: "There is no god but Allah"? He said: "If he intended it as an expression of wonder and did so intentionally, then it is speech; he must repeat the prayer. If it escaped from him unintentionally, there is no repeat upon him."

1047 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: It was said to Abu 'Amr al-Awza'i: A man received news during his prayer that pleased him, so he said: "Alhamdulillah"? He said: "He continues in his prayer."

It was said to Abu 'Amr: A man heard of someone's death (he heard an announcement of a death), so he wept? He said: "If it was only tears flowing without sobbing, his prayer continues; but if he sobbed, he must repeat his prayer."

Notes

(1) Thus it is in the original, and perhaps the correct reading is: "dam'an" (tears).
