- 'Abdah ibn 'Abd al-Rahim ibn Hassan narrated to us, saying: Abu Wahb narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak, who said: "When a boy reaches fourteen years, if he abandons prayer after fourteen years, he must perform the prayers he missed."
- He said: A man asked 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak and said: I repeated the prayers of seventy days, but I did not perform the Witr? He said: "It is more beloved to me that he repeats the Witr," and he mentioned from Malik ibn Anas that he said: "He does not repeat the Witr."
- Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Hushaym narrated to us, saying: Yunus ibn 'Ubayd informed us that a man led the people in the night prayer (al-'isha' al-akhirah), the prayer of the month of Ramadan, and the Witr, then he learned that he had prayed with them while he was not in a state of purity. He met al-Hasan and asked him, so he ordered him to repeat the obligatory [prayer], and did not order him to repeat the prayer of the month of Ramadan, nor the Witr.
- He then met Muhammad ibn Sirin and asked him, and he said the same thing.
- Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Hushaym narrated to us, saying: Ayyub Abu al-'Ala' informed me, saying: Qatadah narrated to us, from Anas - may Allah be pleased with him -, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever forgets a prayer, its atonement is to pray it when he remembers it."
(1) Thus it is in the original, and the correct [form] is: "arba' 'ashrata sanah" (fourteen years).
