Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 456Chapter: Someone who adds to the Tashahhud in the first two Rak'ahs

Translation · EN

• I asked Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, saying: A man breaks ritual purity before delivering the Taslim, and he has already recited the Tashahhud? He said: "His prayer is valid." I mentioned to him the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Its conclusion is the Taslim"? He said: "He means by that: the Tashahhud; because in the Tashahhud is the Taslim."

• As for Ahmad, he does not consider his prayer to be complete until he delivers the Taslim. I said: What if he speaks? He said: "He must repeat the prayer."

1094 - Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, he said: Ibn Mubarak narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ziyad, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Rafi', from Abdullah ibn Amr, who said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If he raises his head from the prostration and breaks ritual purity before delivering the Taslim, then his prayer has sufficed."

Chapter: Regarding one who adds to the Tashahhud in the first two rak'ahs

• I heard Ishaq say: "The Imam must not add anything in the first two rak'ahs when he sits for the Tashahhud. If he adds [something] in the first two rak'ahs beyond the Tashahhud intentionally, he has erred. And if he adds it forgetfully, thinking he is in the final sitting, then upon him are the two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajdatay al-sahw)."

• Yahya ibn Durays informed us, from Nu'aym ibn Maysarah al-Qari, from Mutarrif, from al-Sha'bi (1).

Notes

(1) Thus it is in the original, truncated, and written above it is: "Thus". Perhaps the narration is what Ibn Abi Shaybah (3039) extracted by way of Nu'aym, from Mutarrif, from al-Sha'bi, who said: "Whoever adds to the Tashahhud in the first two rak'ahs, upon him are the two prostrations of forgetfulness."
