• And I heard Ishaq say: "If a drunk person prays, he must repeat the prayer." I said: What if he prayed while he still had his intellect, but was altered [in his state]? He said: "Ibn al-Mubarak said: 'If he rinses his mouth and prays, his prayer is valid; and if he does not rinse his mouth, he must repeat it.'" Abu Ya'qub held this view.
• And I heard Ishaq—another time—say: "Any drink whose large quantity causes intoxication, if some of it touches any part of a person's body, he is obligated to purify it; and if he drank from it, he should not pray until he rinses his mouth."
He said: "Yazid ibn Sinan asked Ibn al-Mubarak, saying: 'I am at banquets, and incense/scented water (naduh) is brought, and it is said that it contains intoxicants?' He replied: 'O Abu Khalid, I see you being lenient; wash your hand of it with water.'"
1138 - Sufyan ibn 'Abd al-Malik informed me, from Ibn al-Mubarak.
He also said: "If he drank it and did not rinse his mouth, I would be of the opinion that he should rinse his mouth, then repeat the prayer." He said: "And if a man drank from an intoxicant, and it touched his finger, and he ate with me from a bowl, I would not eat with him." He said: "And if it touches the garment in the amount of a dirham, he must wash it and repeat the prayer."
Abu Ya'qub said: "A Kurd said to Ibn al-Mubarak: 'We milk a sheep, and it urinates into the milk?' He said: 'There is no harm in it.' It was said to 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak: 'You speak [regarding] the intoxicant [as needing purification if it exceeds] the amount of a dirham, yet you grant a concession for the urine of a sheep?' He replied: 'If the intoxicant were to me like the urine of a sheep, I would see no harm in it.'"
And all of this was stated by Ibn al-Mubarak, and it is what we rely upon.
1139 - Ishaq said: And Sufyan informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from 'Aishah, (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Every drink that causes intoxication is forbidden."
• وسمعت إسحاق يقول: «السَّكران إذا صَلَّى أعاد الصَّلاة». قلت: فإنه صَلَّى ومَعَه عَقله، ولكِنَّه مُتَغَيِّر؟ قال: «قال ابن المبارَك: «إن مَضمَض وصَلَّى؛ فصَلاته جائزة، وإن لم يُمَضمِض؛ أعاد»»، وذَهَبَ أبو يَعقوب إلى ذلك.
• وسمعت إسحاق -مرةً أخرى- يقول: «كُلُّ شَرابٍ أسكَرَ كَثيره، فأصاب منه بَعض أعضاء الإنسان؛ لَزِمَه تَطهيره، وإن شَرِبَ منه لم يُصَلِّ حتى يُمَضمِض فاه».
قال: «وسأل يَزيدُ بن سنان ابنَ المبارَك، فقال: أكون في الوَلائم، فيُجاء بالنّضوح، ويقال: إن فيه المسكِر؟ فقال: «يا أبا خالِد، أراك ترقق، اقشِر يَدَك منه بالماء»:
١١٣٨ - أخبرني سُفيان بن عبد الملِك، عن ابن المبارَك.
وقال -أيضًا-: «لو شَرِبَه ولم يُمَضمِض فاه؛ لَرأيت أن يُمَضمِض فاه، ثم يُعيدُ الصَّلاة». قال: «ولو أن رَجلًا شَرِبَ من المسكِر، فأصاب إصبَعَه، فأكَل مَعي في قَصعَة؛ لم آكُل مَعَه». قال: «وإذا أصاب الثَّوب منه قَدرُ الدرهَم؛ يَغسِله ويُعيدُ الصَّلاة»».
قال أبو يَعقوب: «وقال كُرديٌّ لابن المبارَك: نَحلِب الشاة، فتَبول في اللبَن؟ قال: «لا بأسَ بِه». قيل لعبد الله بن المبارَك: تَقول في المسكِر: قَدرَ الدرهَم، وتُرَخِّص في بَول الشاة؟ فقال: «لَو كان المسكِر عِندي كَبَول الشاة؛ لم أرَ بِه بأسًا».
وكُلُّ هذا قال بِهِ ابن المبارَك، وهو الذي نَعتَمِد عَلَيه».
١١٣٩ - قال إسحاق: وأخبرنا سُفيان، عن الزُّهري، عن أبي سَلَمَة، عن عائشَة، ⦗٥٢٩⦘ قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «كُلُّ شَرابٍ أسكَرَ فهو حَرام».
