1163 - Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Abd al-Karim narrated to us, saying: I asked Abd Allah ibn Dawud, saying: "Which is more appealing to you: that I pray on a ship in a congregation while sitting, or alone while standing?" He replied: "That you pray alone while standing is more appealing to me." I said: "What about the excellence of the congregation?" He said: "May you be well; I fear that it will not suffice you to pray in it sitting while you are able to pray standing." He said: His statement pleased me.
1164 - Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Abd al-Karim narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Dawud narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Burqan, from Maymun ibn Mihran, from Ibn Umar, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered Ja'far ibn Abi Talib and his companions to pray on the sea, in the ship, standing, unless they feared drowning.
1165 - Ahmad ibn Yunus narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, saying: Anas ibn Sirin narrated to us, saying: "I went out with Anas ibn Malik to a land of his at Batha' Sirin, until, when we were at the Tigris, the time for Dhuhr arrived. He led us in prayer while sitting on a mat in the ship, while the ship was dragging us along." Hammad said: "It was as if it was near the limit."
Chapter: Prayer between Pillars
• Ahmad was asked about prayer between pillars, and he disliked it. It was said: "Whether they are many or few; even if there are ten?" He disliked it.
