• Ishaq was asked about praying between pillars (asatin). He said: "The row is disliked," and he held the view that there is no harm in a man praying alone [between them].

• And I heard Ishaq—on another occasion—say: "A man alone may pray between the pillars."

1166 - Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, saying: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Thumamah ibn Anas, from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade forming rows between pillars."

Chapter: Prayer in the Maqsura (enclosed chamber/screened area)

• Ahmad was asked about prayer in the Maqsura, and he said: "I hope there is no harm in it."

1167 - Amr ibn Uthman narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Utbah ibn Damrah narrated to us, saying: "I saw Abd Allah ibn Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) praying in the Maqsura."

Chapter: Prayer on Saline Land (Sabkha)

• I said to Ahmad: "Has it reached you that anyone disliked prayer on saline land?" He said: "No."

1168 - Abd al-Wahhab ibn al-Dahhak narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to me, saying: "I heard people of knowledge dislike prayer in saline lands, while a group of people of knowledge permitted prayer in saline lands."
