Chapter: A Sheep That Eats Filth, Then Puts Its Mouth into Water

• I said to Ishaq ibn Ibrahim: A sheep ate filth, then put its mouth into water. Do I perform ablution with it? He said: "Did the sheep eat anything after that?" I said: No. He said: "If it did not eat anything after the filth, then do not perform ablution with it."

120 - Mahmud narrated to us, he said: Al-Walid narrated to us, he said: Ibn Thawban informed me, from his father, from Makhul—and he was asked about performing ablution with the su'r (leftover water) of a horse, a packhorse, a mule, a camel, a bull, and a sheep—so he said: "There is no harm in it."

121 - Al-Walid said: And Ibn Hawshab informed me that he heard Makhul say: "Perform ablution with the leftovers of all livestock."

Chapter: The Leftover Water of a Chicken

• I said to Ishaq: A chicken ate filth, and its trace remained on its beak, then it put its beak into a bucket containing water. Do I perform ablution with it? He said: "If there is something on its beak, then do not."

122 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, he said: Al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Amr al-Awza'i said: "One may perform ablution with the leftover water of a chicken if he wishes, but one does not perform ablution with the leftover water of a monkey; for it is the most impure of leftovers."

Chapter: The Monkey and the Swine

• I asked Ishaq about the leftover water of a monkey; may one perform ablution with it? He said: "No," then he said: "The leftover water of a swine is not permissible, and the monkey is like it or worse than it."
