1178 - Muhammad ibn Musaffa narrated to us, saying: Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, saying: Mujashi' ibn 'Amr narrated to us, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Umar, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Let a man pray in the mosque that is adjacent to him, and let him not follow [other] mosques."

1179 - 'Ali ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: Ghazwan—who used to stay with Banu Salul—narrated to us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Hasan came to the mosque of Banu Salul, and it was new, and he was waiting for a funeral procession. Next to us was an ancient mosque, and the time for prayer arrived. It was said: "O Abu Sa'id, [it is time for] prayer." He said: "The ancient one is more beloved to me of the two." So he came to the ancient mosque, and the imam said to him: "Step forward, O Abu Sa'id." He said: "The imam is more entitled to the leadership."

Chapter: A Group Performing the Congregation in a House While There is a Mosque at Its Door

• I said to Ahmad—may Allah have mercy on him: "What about a group of about ten people who are in a house, and they perform the congregation, while there is a mosque at the door of the house?" He said: "They should go out to the mosque, and they should not pray in the house." It was as if he said: "Unless there is a mosque inside the house where the adhan is called and [prayer] is established."

1180 - 'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-'Azim narrated to us, saying: Sahl ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Ibn Idris narrated to us, from Layth, from Talha, that he disapproved of praying in marketplace mosques.
