Chapter: The Imam Who Makes Grammatical Errors in His Recitation

• I said to Ahmad: "I arrived at a mosque, and their imam is poor in his recitation, and they said to me: 'Step forward [to lead the prayer]'?" He said: "If you are a better reciter than him, and they are pleased with you, then step forward, even if you are not their [appointed] imam."

• I said to Ahmad: "What if the imam is one who makes grammatical errors?" He said: "[That is acceptable] if he does not change the meaning."

1181 - 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Jabalah narrated to us, saying: Jarir ibn 'Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, from Idris, who said: It was said to al-Hasan: "We have an imam who makes grammatical errors?" He said: "Remove him."

Chapter: The Master of the House is More Entitled to Lead the Prayer

• I said to Ahmad: "If a man is in his village or his house, he is in his own domain; is it not appropriate for anyone to step forward [to lead] ahead of him without his permission?" He said: "Yes."

1182 - And Abu Hisham narrated to us, saying: Hassan narrated to us, saying: Sufyan said: "Meaning by 'his domain': his house; because a man has authority in his own house."

Chapter: If One Enters the Mosque, He Should Perform Two Rak'ahs

• It was said to Ahmad: "If a man enters the mosque while he is in a state of ablution, should he pray two rak'ahs before he sits down?" He said: "How excellent that is."

• And Ishaq was asked about a man who enters the mosque and sits down without praying two rak'ahs? He said: "There is no harm [in that]."
