Volume 1 · Page 4

Translation · EN

4 - Hannad ibn al-Sari narrated to us, saying: Abu Mu'awiya narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Muslim, who said: I heard Tawus say: "If I prayed and there was the equivalent of my palm-sized of blood on my garment, I would not repeat the prayer."

5 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, saying: Hushaym and Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Yunus, from al-Hasan—regarding a man who prays while there is blood on his garment—he said: "The drops of blood do not spoil the prayer of a Muslim person."

6 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: Bishr ibn 'Umar al-Zahrani narrated to us, saying: I asked Malik ibn Anas about a man who prays while there is much blood on his garment? He said: "He repeats it as long as he is within the time, but if the time passes, he does not repeat it." I said: What if it is on his body? He said: "Whether it is on his body or his garment, it is the same."

I said: What if it is urine? He said: "Urine and blood are the same, except that he repeats [the prayer] for both small and large amounts of urine as long as it is within the time; if the time passes, he does not repeat—even if it was a large amount—whereas if it is blood, he does not repeat it within the time or outside the time"—meaning: if it was a small amount.

Malik said to me—regarding an impure garment in which a man prays—that he should repeat it if the time has passed.

7 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, saying: al-Walid narrated to me, saying: I said to Abu 'Amr al-Awza'i: I prayed while there was blood the size of a dirham or more on my garment, and I did not see it until I had completed my prayer? He said: "Your prayer has passed [as valid]."

It was said to Abu 'Amr ... that it was from her menstrual blood and she had prayed? He said: "Her prayer has passed [as valid]."

I said to Abu 'Amr: What is your opinion if I had seen blood on my garment, but I did not turn away [from the prayer] until I had finished it? He did not answer me with anything regarding it, but I was later informed that he said: "His prayer has passed [as valid]."
