- Ishaq said: 'Isa ibn Yunus informed us, from Hisham ibn Hassan, from Muhammad, that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man wearing a qalansuwa (cap) made of fox skin, so he snatched it from his head, unstitched it, threw away its lining, and returned the cap to him.'
• I heard Ishaq also say: 'What we rely upon is the prohibition of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding the skins of beasts of prey and every beast that has fangs. Therefore, it is not permissible to benefit from their fur or wear their skins, unless a person uses it to keep warm. If one prays in it, he must repeat the prayer as a precaution, though it is not clearly established that repeating the prayer is obligatory, due to the difference of opinion regarding the permissibility of eating their meat.'
- 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim said: 'I saw al-Awza'i wearing boots lined with fox fur, and he was praying in them.'
- Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Yazid ibn Harun and Muhammad ibn Bakr informed us, they said: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Abu Malih ibn Usama, from his father, from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that he prohibited the skins of beasts of prey.
- Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: Hushaym narrated to us, he said: Mansur ibn Zadhan informed us, from al-Hasan, that 'Ali disliked praying in fox skins.
