1223 - 'Amr ibn 'Ali narrated to us, he said: 'Abdullah ibn Dawud informed us, from Hisham, he said: "My father used to wear a barrakan (cloak) whose hem was four fingers wide of silk brocade (dibaj)."
Chapter: A man prays while having something in his sleeve
I said to Ahmad: A man prays while there is fruit or something similar in his sleeve? He said: "There is no harm in it, provided it does not distract him from the prayer."
1224 - Al-Musayyib ibn Wadih narrated to us, he said: I heard Ibn al-Mubarak being asked about a man who has something in his sleeve? He said: "There is no harm in it, so long as it does not distract him."
He said: And I heard him being asked about a man who has a garment or something else with him, and he places it in front of him during the prayer, then the rows move forward or backward; may he reach for that thing and move forward or backward? He said: "There is no harm in that." It was said: And what is the limit of the walking of the person praying in his prayer? He said: "Whatever does not cross the boundary of walking."
Chapter: If one prays while having dinars or gold jewelry in his sleeve
Ahmad was asked about a man who prays while having dinars in his sleeve? He said: "There is no harm in it." I said: What if it were gold jewelry? He said: "I do not know."
