Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 508Chapter: One who prays with a piece of silk fabric in his sleeve

Translation · EN

I asked Ishaq, I said: A man prays while wearing a gold bracelet on his hand? He said: "If he wears it due to a medical condition, then I hope it is sufficient for him."

1225 - Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Waki' informed us, he said: Abu al-Ashhab narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Tarafah, from his grandfather 'Arfajah, that his nose was injured on the day of al-Kulab, so he fashioned a nose out of silver, but it became foul-smelling for him. He asked the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and he commanded him to fashion a nose out of gold.

Chapter: One who prays while having a silk garment in his sleeve

I said to Ishaq: A man prays while having a silk garment in his sleeve? He said: "He has done wrong, and evil is what he has done," and he was of the opinion that his prayer is valid.

Chapter: A man prays while there is a snake in his sleeve

I said to Ishaq: A physician who prays while having a small box in his sleeve containing a snake? He said: "It does not invalidate his prayer, unless it is dead."

1226 - Ahmad ibn Nasr narrated to us, he said: Dawud ibn Sulayman al-'Attar narrated to us, he said: Sa'id ibn Maslamah narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Umayyah, he said: Iblis would appear to 'Amir ibn 'Abd al-Qays in the form of a snake while he was in his prayer, and it would enter under his shirt until it came out of his sleeve or his pocket, and he would not touch it. It was said to 'Amir: Would you not remove the snake from you? He said: "I am truly too ashamed before Allah to fear anyone other than Him." And Iblis would coil up in his place of prostration, so he would prostrate upon it, and when its stench annoyed him, he would remove it with his hand, then he would say: "Were it not for your stench, I would not have ceased prostrating upon you."
