1230 - Ishaq narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Samad ibn 'Abd al-Warith informed us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Dinar, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from 'Ata' ibn Yasar, from Abu Waqid al-Laythi, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whatever is cut from a living being is dead."

1231 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, he said: Abu al-Nu'man narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik al-'Arzami, from 'Ata', that he saw no harm in using human hair to make ropes.

Chapter: Praying on a bed

• I asked Ishaq about praying on a wooden bed? He said: "There is no harm in it."

1232 - Ahmad ibn al-Azhar narrated to us, he said: Al-Walid ibn al-Walid ibn Yazid al-'Ansi al-Dimashqi narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Awza'i about praying on beds and the like? He saw no harm in that.

Chapter: The man who prays while repressing the two impurities (feces and urine)

• I said to Ahmad: A man who prayed while repressing the two impurities? He said: "He must repeat it."

• And Ahmad was asked - another time - about a man in prayer who was overtaken by the need to urinate? He said: "If it is just gas or bloating, I am hopeful, and let him continue his prayer as long as it does not overcome him."
