Chapter: One Who Prays in Trousers Alone

• I said to Ishaq: "If [a man] prays in trousers alone, does he repeat the prayer?" He said: "The trousers and the loincloth (izar) are, in my view, the same."

1272 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, [saying]: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: 'Anbasa al-Qurashi informed me, from Abu Ahmad ibn 'Abd Rabbih, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "When Allah took Abraham as a Friend (Khalil), it was said: 'Conceal your nakedness from the earth.'" He said: "So he adopted trousers."

Chapter: Prayer in a Shirt with Unfastened Buttons

• It was said to Ishaq: "What if he prays in a shirt with unfastened buttons?" He said: "I dislike it, because the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: 'Button it, even if with a thorn.'" It was said: "Must he repeat the prayer?" He said: "No."

1273 - Yahya ibn Hassan narrated to us, saying: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Abi al-Walid narrated to us, saying: "I saw 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar and Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib praying while their buttons were unfastened."

1274 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir narrated to us, saying: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, saying: Khulayd informed me, from al-Hasan, that he used to prefer for the one who prays in a single shirt, having no trousers or loincloth over it, to fasten something around his waist."
