1292 - Al-Awza'i said: "It has reached me that they should be in one row, sitting, with their imam in their midst, performing gestures (for the prayer). And it is more beloved to me that they pray individually, sitting. And if they have one garment with them, they should pray in it one by one, as long as the time permits."
Chapter: Prayer in a Dawwaj (Cloak/Fur Garment)
• Ahmad ibn Hanbal was asked about praying in a dawwaj. He said: "And what is wrong with it?" It was said to him: "It is mentioned that Ibn al-Mubarak and Waki' disliked it." He granted a concession for it and said: "How useful of a garment it is."
1293 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Muhajir narrated to us, saying: And my brother 'Abd al-'Azim narrated to me, saying: "I saw 'Ata' al-Khurasani in Jerusalem wearing a fox-fur dawwaj."
1294 - 'Amr narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, from Safwan, who said: "I saw Khalid ibn Ma'dan wearing a dawwaj of blankets, with a lining of Anbijani (coarse wool) fabric."
1295 - Ibn Abi Hazm narrated to us, saying: al-Barsani narrated to us, saying: Ibn Jurayj informed us, saying: 'Ata' was asked, and I was listening, about the qaba' (long outer garment); should a person pray in it alone? He said: "The qaba' is open, and it is not... he prayed in it alone, but he should wear an izar (lower garment) beneath it."

١٢٩٢ - قال الأوزاعي: «وبَلَغَني أنهم يَكونون صَفًّا واحِدًا جُلوسًا، وإمامهم وَسطَهم، يومئون إيماءً. وأحبُّ إليَّ: أن يُصَلُّوا فُرادى جُلوسًا، وإن كان مَعَهم ثَوبٌ واحِد؛ صَلَّوا فيه واحِدًا وحِدًا؛ ما حَمَلَهم الوَقت».
باب: الصَّلاة في الدوَّاج
• وسُئل أحمَد بن حَنبل عن الصَّلاة في الدوَّاج؟ قال: «وما بَأسُه؟». قيل: إنه ذُكر عن ابن مبارَك ووَكيع أنهما كَرِهاه. ورَخَّصَ فيه، وقال: «ما أنفَعَه مِن ثَوب».
١٢٩٣ - حدثنا عَمرو بن عُثمان، قال: ثنا أبي، قال: ثنا محمد بن مهاجر، قال: وحدثني أخي عبد العَظيم، قال: «رأيت على عَطاء الخراساني في بَيت المقدِس دواجَ ثَعالِب».
١٢٩٤ - حدثنا عَمرو، ثنا بَقيَّة، عن صفوان، قال: «رأيت على خالِد بن معدان دوَّاجَ مَلاحِف، بِطانَته أَنبِجَانيّ».
١٢٩٥ - حدثنا ابن أبي حَزم، قال: ثنا البرساني، قال: أبنا ابن جُرَيج، قال: سُئل عَطاء وأنا أسمَع عن القباء يُصَلِّي فيه المرءُ وَحدَه؟ قال: «إن القباء مَفروج، ولا (١) ⦗٥٩٠⦘ ذاك صَلَّى فيه وَحدَه، ولكن لِيأتَزِر عَلَيه إزار (٢) تَحتَه».
