1307 - 'Ubayd Allah narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, that he saw no harm in a man learning of the stars what he uses for guidance.
1308 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, saying: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, saying: Mis'ar informed us, from Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd Allah, who said: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Learn from the stars what you use to know the qibla and the road."
1309 - Bishr ibn Mu'adh narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Nu'aym ibn Abi Hind, who said: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Learn from the stars what you use to guide yourselves on land and sea, then desist."
1310 - Ishaq narrated to us, saying: Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Qatadah, that he disliked for a man to learn the lunar mansions.
1311 - I heard Musa ibn al-Musawir—from the people of Isfahan; Musa was of the volunteers (al-mutawwi'ah)—mentioning on the authority of Ibn 'Uyaynah that he did not grant permission for the learning of the lunar mansions.
1312 - al-Sari ibn Muhammad Abu Salih narrated to us, saying: al-Haytham ibn Jamil narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Muslim, from Ibrahim ibn Maysarah, from Tawus, who said: "Many a one who looks into the stars, or learns the letters of 'Abjad', shall have no portion with Allah."
