As for the Jazira, the Awasim, some people of the Levant (al-Sham), and the villages along the Euphrates, they place the North Star (al-Jadi) behind their napes when they pray. Likewise, the people of Armenia and its surrounding regions follow the North Star for their Qibla; they place it behind their napes.
Every mosque in our city of Kirman—if you stand in it for prayer or otherwise—look: if the Heart of the Scorpion (Antares) is exactly between your eyes when it sets, or if Capella is exactly behind the nape of your neck when it rises, then you are facing the Qibla, facing the face of the Kaaba. If the Heart is not between your eyes when it sets, or if Capella is not behind your nape when it rises, then you are not facing the Qibla; therefore, incline to the right toward the Qibla—if possible—or the Qibla of the mosque should be corrected by demolition or repair; this is for our city in Kirman.
The first part is completed with the praise and assistance of Allah. There is no power and no strength except by Allah, the Most High, the Almighty. It is followed—if Allah Almighty wills—at the beginning of the second part: The Chapter of: "The Times of Prayer". And may Allah bless our master Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet, and his family and companions, and grant them peace.
