144 - Amr ibn Uthman narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, he said: It was said to Abu Amr: "What if he sleeps in trousers?" He said: "He does not have to wash his hand; but if he sleeps in a waist-wrapper (izar), he must wash it."

145 - Abbas ibn Abd al-Azim narrated to us, he said: Rawh ibn Ubadah narrated to us, from Ash'ath, from al-Hasan, that he did not believe one who sleeps during the day needs to wash his hand when he wakes up.

146 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: "When one of you wakes up from his sleep, he should not dip his hand into the vessel until he washes it three times, for he does not know where his hand spent the night."

147 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, he said: Umar narrated to us, he said: al-Awza'i was asked about a man who dipped his hand into a vessel while he was in a state of major ritual impurity (junub); should he repeat his ghusl or change the water? He said: "He should not repeat his ghusl, nor should he change it."

Chapter: A drop of wine falling into a vessel

• I asked Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, saying: "A bucket of water into which a drop of wine, urine, or blood has fallen?" He said: "Whenever the water is less than two qullahs, it is, according to us, rendered impure by it."
