Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 5Chapter: One who prays in an impure garment and has no other

Translation · EN

It was said to Abu 'Amr ... (1) that it was from her menstrual blood and she had prayed? He said: "Her prayer has passed [as valid]."

I said to Abu 'Amr: What is your opinion if I had seen blood on my garment, but I did not turn away [from the prayer] until I had finished it? He did not answer me with anything regarding it, but I was later informed that he said: "His prayer has passed [as valid]."

Chapter: One Who Prays in an Impure Garment While He Has No Other

• I asked Ahmad ibn Hanbal, I said: A man performed prayer in a garment that was not pure; there was significant blood and filth on it? He said: "He shall repeat the prayer." It was said: Should he strip and pray? He said: "He shall not strip, but he shall pray in the garment and repeat [the prayer]."

8 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, [saying]: Hammad ibn Zayd and Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that he would not pray in a garment that had blood or sexual impurity on it.

• And I asked Ishaq ibn Ibrahim, I said: A man is on a journey, the prayer time arrives, and he has with him a garment that is not pure, and he has no other with him; should he pray in it? He said: "He shall pray in it as long as he does not find a garment other than it." I said: Is his prayer valid; does he not repeat it? He said: "Yes."

9 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, saying: Salm ibn Qutayba narrated to us, saying: Sharik narrated to us, from Jabir, from al-Sha'bi, Muhammad ibn 'Ali, and al-Qasim ibn Muhammad; they did not deem repetition necessary for sprinkling of urine or blood.

10 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, saying: Abu 'Amir narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran Ayman ibn Nabil, who said: I asked 'Ata' and Mujahid about a garment that is not pure in which one prays? They both said: "There is no harm in it."
