162 - Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Qatadah, from Mu'adhah, from 'A'ishah, who said: "Order your husbands to wash the trace of excrement, for I am shy of them; the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, used to do it."

163 - Sa'id ibn Mansur narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Yazid al-Rishk, from Mu'adhah al-'Adawiyyah, from 'A'ishah—may Allah be pleased with her—who said: "Order your husbands to wash the trace of excrement and urine, for I am shy to command them to do that."

164 - Muhammad ibn Jami' narrated to us, he said: Abu Mihsan narrated to us, he said: Sufyan ibn Husayn narrated to us, from al-Hakam, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, from 'Abdullah, who said: A man from the polytheists said to 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: "I believe your companion has taught you everything, even how to go to the latrine?!" He said: "And though you are mocking, he—peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—taught us not to face the Qiblah nor turn our backs to it, not to perform istinja' with our right hands, not to perform istinja' with fewer than three stones, and not to perform istinja' with bone or dung."

165 - 'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-'Azim narrated to us, he said: 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar informed us, from Simak ibn al-Fadl, from Abu Rushdin al-Jundi, that Suraqah ibn Malik—may Allah be pleased with him—said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If one of you comes to the latrine, let him honor the Qiblah of Allah and not face the Qiblah. And beware of the places of cursing: the shade, the water, and the middle of the road. And seek to shield yourselves from the wind, and balance yourselves on your shins, and prepare the 'nubal'—meaning: the stones."
