Chapter: Wiping the Head
• I saw Ahmad describing the wiping of the head; he took with his hands from the front of his head at the forehead, down to the back of his head at the nape, then he brought his hands back from that place to the front of the head, and then he said: "'Ali and 'Abd Allah ibn Zayd said: 'He moved his hands backward, then brought them forward.'"
• And Ahmad was asked—another time—about wiping the head? He said: "Once with both his hands."
180 - Nasr ibn 'Ali narrated to us, [who said:] Safwan ibn 'Isa narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Maryam, who said: I entered upon Zayd ibn Darah—a freedman of 'Uthman—and he said: "O Muhammad." I said: "At your service." He said: "Shall I not tell you about the wudu' of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)?" I said: "Yes." He said: "I saw 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) call for water for wudu', so he rinsed his mouth three times, inhaled water three times, washed his face and forearms three times, wiped his head three times, and washed his feet three times. Then he said: 'Whoever wishes to see the wudu' of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), let him look at this wudu' of mine.'"
Chapter: Wiping the Head with One Hand
• And Ahmad was asked—another time—about a man wiping his head with one hand? He said: "If he covers the entire head, it suffices him."
181 - Abu Ma'n narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Amir narrated to us, he said: Zuhayr ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Sharik ibn Abi Namir, that he heard Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman say: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to wash his face with his right hand; with one hand."
