Chapter: Urine and Excrement

• I said to Ahmad ibn Hanbal: What if it is urine? He said: "As for urine and excrement, he must repeat [the prayer] regardless of whether it is a small or large amount."

• And I heard Ahmad—another time—say: .................................... (1).

• And I heard Ishaq say: "He must repeat the prayer on account of urine and excrement, whether it is a small or large amount."

• And I heard Ishaq say: "My school of thought regarding urine and excrement is that he must repeat regardless of whether it is a small or large amount, even if it is the size of a needle head or a fly's head. As for other types of filth, he does not repeat."

• And I heard Ishaq—another time—say: "Urine and excrement require one to repeat regardless of whether they are a small or large amount, whereas blood, wine, and other things do not require repetition."

• And I heard Ishaq—another time—say: "As for other types of filth, whether small or large—excluding excrement and urine—if one prayed in a garment that was affected by them without knowing, then there is no repetition upon him, regardless of whether the time [for prayer] has passed or he is still within the time."

11 - Ahmad ibn Nasr narrated to us, saying: Hibban ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us: Sufyan held the view of repeating on account of urine if the urine touched the garment (2); regardless of whether it was a small or large amount."

Notes

(1) The copyist left a blank space equivalent to five words. (2) This is how it appears in the original manuscript, and perhaps the correct reading is: "the garment".

Notes
