195 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, he said: al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Amr said: "He performs wudu' and wipes over the bandage on the temples."
196 - Al-Walid said: "And I say: It is not appropriate to apply the bandage except upon purity (tahara) and wudu'. If he did not do so, he removes them. If he did not do so, he performs wudu' and performs tayammum (dry ablution) after the wudu'."
Chapter: He Who Forgets to Move His Ring During Wudu'
• I said to Ishaq: "So he forgot to move his ring?" He was lenient regarding it if he knew that the water had reached [the skin].
• Ishaq was asked about moving his ring during wudu'? He said: "[It is] strict."
197 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, he said: 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Awza'i about a man who has a tight ring on him, and he forgets to move it until he prays, then he remembers it while in the time [of the prayer], or after it has passed? He said: "I would prefer that he not neglect moving it, but if he forgot, his prayer is valid."
198 - Muhammad ibn Jami' narrated to us, he said: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, he said: al-Mu'alla ibn Jabir narrated to us, from al-Azraq ibn Qays, he said: I saw Ibn 'Umar, when he performed wudu', move his ring.
Chapter: Combing the Fingers
• I said to Ahmad: "A man put his feet in the water and did not comb his toes, does his wudu' suffice?" He said: "It is more pleasing to me that he combs his toes." I said: "If he did not do it?" He said: "If the water reached [them]."
