• And I heard Ishaq—another time—say: "The mudd that was commanded for wudu' is merely equivalent to two ritls, and there has been an increase in the amnan (units of weight). We have measured what we have of the sa' against the Madinan sa' attributed to the sa' of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him; and it is equivalent to five ritls and a third of a ritl—by the ritl of our time—and the mudd is one-fourth of that."

He said: "If a man performs wudu' with a mudd and performs ghusl with a sa', yet the purification does not reach the extent that was commanded, it does not suffice him. But if he reaches what was commanded while having performed wudu' with less than a mudd and ghusl with less than a sa', it suffices him. The mudd and the sa' from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, are merely a choice [in terminology], and the confirmation of that is what 'Aisha narrated: She said, 'I used to perform ghusl, I and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, from a single vessel, and it is the faraq,' and that is three sa's."

201 - Ishaq narrated to us, he said: Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from 'Aisha, she said: "I used to perform ghusl, I and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, from a single vessel, and it is the faraq."

Chapter: What One Says When He Finishes His Wudu'

• I heard Ishaq ibn Ibrahim say: "When you finish your wudu', say: 'Glory be to You, O Allah, and with Your praise; I bear witness that there is no god but You, I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You. O Allah, make me of the repentant and make me of the purified.'"
