Masa'il Harb al-Kirmani: Book of Purification (Taharah) and Prayer (Salah) - Edited by al-Surayyi'
Volume 1 · Page 86Chapter: Wiping the face with a towel after Wudu

Translation · EN

210 - Yahya narrated to us, he said: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Harith, from 'Ali, who said: "There is no harm in performing wudu' with nabidh."

• Ahmad did not authenticate these two hadiths.

o Harb said: The nabidh with which the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, performed wudu' was merely some dates belonging to some Bedouins, which they had cast into a waterskin containing some water, and the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, performed wudu' with that; it is narrated similarly from Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him.

Chapter: Wiping the face with a towel after wudu'

• Ahmad was asked about wiping the face with a towel after wudu'? He said: "I hope there is no harm in it." It was said: "What about the hadith of Kurayb, from Ibn 'Abbas, from Maymunah?" He said: "That is not clear, he only said: 'The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did thus,' and he described it."

211 - Abu al-Sari al-Darimi narrated to us, he said: Waki' narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Kurayb, from Ibn 'Abbas, from his maternal aunt Maymunah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: I brought the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, a garment when he performed ghusl from janabah, so he signaled with his hand like this—meaning: 'Return it'—and he began to shake the water from himself.
