218 - Mahmud ibn Khalid narrated to us, he said: 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, he said: Al-Awza'i was asked about a man who clips his nails or trims his mustache or his head: should he repeat his wudu'? He said: "No." And I heard 'Ata' say: "He should pass water over them," and al-Zuhri did not consider that there was any wiping [of water] required for it.
He said: And al-Awza'i was asked about a man who shaved his head after wudu'? He said: "Wiping over it [with water] suffices him."
219 - Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, he said: Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Taymi, from Abu Mijlaz, from Ibn 'Umar, that he clipped his nails and then prayed without touching water.
220 - 'Amr ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, he said: Baqiyyah narrated to us, from al-Dahhak ibn Hamzah, from Qatadah—regarding a man who clips his nails after wudu'—he said: "It has added nothing to him but cleanliness."
221 - Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, he said: Rabah ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Hafs ibn Sabih, from Bashir ibn Zayd, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "Clipping them is a purification."
Chapter: Wudu' due to touching the penis
• I heard Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Hanbal say: "He should perform wudu' from touching the penis."
• I asked Ahmad—another time—I said: "If a man is performing wudu' and his hand comes into contact with his private part?" He said: "He should repeat the wudu'." I said: "Are the man and the woman the same in that regard?" He said: "I do not know."

٢١٨ - حدثنا مَحمود بن خالِد، قال: ثنا عُمَر بن عبد الواحِد، قال: سُئل الأوزاعي عن الرجل يُقَلِّم أَظفارَه أو يَأخُذ من شَارِبه ورأسه، أيُعيد وضوءه؟ قال: «لا، وسمعت عَطاء يقول: «يُمِرُّ عليه الماء»، وكان الزُّهري لا يرى عَليه مَسحًا».
قال: وسُئل الأوزاعي عن رجلٍ حَلَق رأسه بعد الوضوء؟ قال: «يُجزِئه المسح عَليه».
٢١٩ - حدثنا يَحيى الحِمَّاني، قال: ثنا ابن مبارَك، عن سُلَيمان التيمي، عن أبي مجلز، عن ابن عُمَر، أنه قَصَّ أَظفاره ثم صَلَّى ولم يَمَسّ ماء.
٢٢٠ - حدثنا عَمرو بن عُثمان، قال: ثنا بَقيَّة، عن الضَّحَّاك بن حمزة (١)، عن قَتادَة -في الرجل يَقُصُّ أَظفاره بعد الوضوء-؛ قال: «ما زادَه إلا تَنَظُّفًا».
٢٢١ - حدثنا يَحيى الحِمَّاني، قال: ثنا رَبَاح بن خالِد، عن حَفص بن صبيح، عن بشير بن زَيد، عن ابن عَبَّاس، قال: «قَصُّها طهور».
باب: الوضوء من مَسِّ الذَّكَر
• سمعت أحمَد بن محمد بن حنبل يقول: «يتوضَّأ من مَسِّ الذَّكَر».
• سألت أحمَد -مرةً أخرى-، قلت: الرجل يتوضَّأ فَيُفضي بِيَدِه إلى فَرجِه؟ قال: ⦗١٤٥⦘ «يُعِيد الوضوء». قلت: الرجل والمرأة في ذلك سَواء؟ قال: «لا أدري».
